  • Keep it in the fridge in an airtight container, since the cream cheese frosting needs to stay cold. Eat it within 3–4 days.
  • Crumbl serves it chilled, so don’t reheat it. Let it sit out for 5–10 minutes if you want the cookie a little softer.
  • To freeze, chill it until the frosting is firm, wrap it tightly and freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw it in the fridge.

Crumbl Halloween Sprinkle Cake Cookie Recipe (Copycat)

Crumbl doesn’t share its recipe, but this version makes big, soft, cakey sugar cookies close to the original. It makes about 8 large cookies.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup (60 g) sour cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • Frosting: 4 oz (113 g) cream cheese and ¼ cup (57 g) unsalted butter, both softened
  • Frosting: 2 cups (240 g) powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Topping: about 1 cup Halloween sprinkle mix

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment.
  2. Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Beat in the egg, sour cream and vanilla.
  3. Mix in the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt until just combined.
  4. Scoop large balls of dough, about ⅓ cup each, and space them well apart. Flatten each ball slightly.
  5. Bake for 9–11 minutes, until set but still pale. Let the cookies cool completely.
  6. Beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth. Swirl a thick layer onto each cookie, then dip the frosted tops in the sprinkles to cover them.
  7. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

Tip: Crumbl serves this cookie chilled, so keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to eat it.
