What Is Crumbl’s Tres Leches Cake?

Tres leches means “three milks” in Spanish. The classic Latin American cake is a light sponge soaked in evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk and regular milk or cream, then topped with whipped cream.

Crumbl’s version follows that idea: a fluffy vanilla cake soaked in tres leches sauce, a thick layer of whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon. It comes in a square tin and is served chilled, so it eats more like a spoon dessert than a cookie. When it debuted in February 2024, it was Crumbl’s second non-cookie dessert, according to Tasting Table.

How Much Is the Crumbl Tres Leches Cake?

The Tres Leches Cake costs more than a regular cookie because Crumbl adds an upcharge. At Crumbl stores in Texas and South Dakota in October 2026, a single large cake was $5.98: the $4.49 single price plus a $1.49 upcharge. Minis had a $0.69 upcharge. The upcharge applies to every cake in a box, but boxes lower the base price, so each cake costs less:

Yes. Crumbl serves it chilled, and both the milk-soaked cake and the whipped cream are dairy, so keep it in the fridge.

  • Keep it covered in its tin in the fridge, and don’t leave it out for more than 2 hours.
  • It tastes best within 1–2 days.
  • Don’t microwave it. It’s meant to be eaten cold.
  • Freezing isn’t a good idea: the whipped cream turns watery when it thaws.

Ingredients

Cake:

  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 5 large eggs, separated
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar, divided
  • ⅓ cup (80 ml) whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Tres leches soak:

  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup (120 ml) whole milk or heavy cream

Topping:

  • 1½ cups (360 ml) cold heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Ground cinnamon, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch pan.
  2. Whisk the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
  3. Beat the egg yolks with ¾ cup of the sugar until pale. Stir in the milk and vanilla, then fold in the flour mixture.
  4. Beat the egg whites to soft peaks, add the remaining ¼ cup sugar and beat to stiff peaks. Gently fold them into the batter.
  5. Spread the batter in the pan and bake for 25–30 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
  6. Poke holes all over the cake with a fork. Whisk the three milks together and pour them slowly over the cake.
  7. Cover and chill for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  8. Whip the cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla to stiff peaks. Spread it over the cake and dust with cinnamon.

Tip: Crumbl serves this cake cold, so keep it in the fridge until you serve it.
